Rodagira is a Portuguese brand that has been making fixed gear frames in Italy. A decade of friendship precedes this collaboration. Nuno Sota, the owner of Rodagira, comes from the world of skateboarding and punk in Portugal.
He created Rodagira in 2012 to represent the fixed gear scene in Portugal at that time. During 2017 and 2018, we formed the Rodagira/Laser team and competed in fixed gear races in cities such as Milan, Barcelona, New York, and Berlin, among The idea of creating a gravel frame was a challenge that several friends had come up with over the years. We felt it would be a natural progression from the frames we had been creating.
The name "Gator" comes from "alligator," inspired by the legendary skateboarder Mark "Gator" Rogowski, representing the aggressiveness that exists in both nature and the urban environment.
From the beginning, we decided to use a mix of premium Columbus steel tubes and, for the first time, build a frame in Portugal using a local frame builder, Carlos Santa Clara.
Since the idea had come from friends, we had to continue with friends! So once again, we decided to create another collaboration with Laser Barcelona to design and present the first Gator frame.
Justo Heras, the owner of Laser Barcelona, was in charge of the design and creative direction of the project during the team's formation. Now, he has done the branding and all the graphics that come together for the new gravel frame.
"Thank you, cycling" expresses how she has been able to explain her own story. Joining her on her journey, in addition to enjoying herself, she has had to overcome a very big loss.
Since we met Maria we have loved her adventurous spirit, her smile and liked how she expresses herself on the bike. Having grown up in the same city in parallel realities has made it even easier to connect and create this synergy.
Bicycles are not only competition tools; they are stories, poetry, and experiences. We wanted to recreate her story in a bicycle and clothing line that joins Maria on her adventures and expresses an idea that will inspire others.
Both the design and the art direction were done by Justo Heras, artist and founder of Laser Barcelona. He used his own creativity and imagination to create some codes that define aspects of Maria and the bicycle at the same time. The result is a work of art in motion.
Adventure starts here :)
